Children's adventure park Bewilderwood, near Hoveton, and the Broad House
Hotel in Wroxham were among the winners at the regional Enjoy England for
Excellence Awards.
The awards, presented by BBC Newsnight's Gavin Esler at a ceremony in
Ickworth, near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk, celebrated the quality of the tourism
industry in the eastern region.
Derek Langslow, chairman of East of England Tourism, said: “These awards
recognise the excellent standards being achieved within the tourism industry
throughout the region.
“They highlight the high quality and excellent customer service within the
industry, as well as some marvellous examples of best practice in welcoming
visitors with disabilities, promoting local produce and looking after the
environment.”
At last night's awards, family adventure park Bewilderwood was named as the
best large visitor attraction, beating competition from the Imperial War Museum
in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, and Woburn Safari Park in Bedfordshire.
Meanwhile, the Broad House Hotel in Wroxham was crowned as the best small
hotel ahead of Great Hallingbury Manor, near Bishop's Stortford, Essex, and
Milsoms Kesgrave Hall, Ipswich, Suffolk.
Other Norfolk winners were Incleborough House and Stable Cottage in East
Runton, Deepdale Leisure in Burnham Deepdale and Park House Hotel in Sandringham.
The winners will now be entered into the national awards which will be held
in April 2010.
Simon Egan, co-founder of Bewilderwood, said: “Bewilderwood is a unique
attraction which offers something very special to visitors.
“Since we opened in 2007 we have all worked very hard to bring our wild and
magical wood to life and it's fantastic to receive recognition for our
remarkably dedicated team. We are committed to making Bewilderwood an even more
memorable experience in the years to come.”
